Focused on crafting music to transcend time and genres, OBLIVION features a compelling cast of characters with All Shall Perish founding bassist Ben Orum, vocalist Dr. Nick Vasallo, a professor of music and internationally acclaimed modernist composer, guitarists Ted O’Neill and Victor Dods who’s currently completing his PhD in mathematics, and drum prodigy Luis Martinez, trained by renowned jazz funk musician Ndugu Chancler.

Serious aficionado level Prog/Tech Death. The unique colors they bring to this record are not really heard elsewhere. They have forged their own sound and it’s totally badass. I guess The Faceless could be mentioned for reference of similar styles/tones. They care for the song craft as much as the tasty Tech and Leads. An eclectic but incredibly well-integrated blend of traditional death metal, melodeath, black metal, progressive, and even a bit of folk (with the added bonus of audible and tasty bass guitar). The album has a consistent, pulverizing momentum punctuated by the rare acoustic passage or catchy chorus/refrain. Overall an unbelievably mature first offering from an up-and-coming band to watch. Short but epic at the same time once it begins hooks you all the way through. Very different to what I'm used to hearing these days. I like that it envelops you in a story about a hard life and facing demons till the final song, this is produced really well alongside excellent musicianship makes for a perfect 10 out of 10.
